Dumpster Rental Cost in Abilene, TX
We do not set prices; independent pros do. Here is what moves a quote, and the published numbers we can cite.
Debris projects only. We refer construction, remodel, roofing and cleanout debris roll-offs, not recurring garbage service. Inside Abilene city limits the City handles regular trash, with short-term construction debris as its stated exception.
What changes the price
A roll-off quote is built from a few pieces, and two quotes for the same project can differ because the pieces differ.
- Container size and rental period. Bigger containers cost more, and a longer rental can add days.
- Type and weight of debris. Heavy material such as shingles, concrete or dirt can cost more and may need weight limits.
- Landfill fees. The landfills north of town on FM 3034 set their own rates, and some items require extra processing at extra cost. The City's landfill page says to contact each landfill for pricing and hours.
- Delivery location and any permit needs. A driveway is simple; a street placement may add steps.
- Taxes and add-ons. The City's published schedule lists sales tax as extra, a good reminder to ask what is and is not in the number.
Published flat-rate vendor pages commonly say the price bundles delivery, pickup and the rental period. Confirm what your quote includes before you agree.

Marketplace estimate
One dumpster marketplace, ASAP Marketplace, estimates a typical 20 yard rental at roughly $200 to $700 and notes that prices vary by vendor. That is a general estimate, not an Abilene quote, and not a price from this site or any pro we refer. A range that wide is the honest picture: the low end assumes light material and a short rental, while the high end reflects weight, distance and add-ons.
Why a quote can be low and the invoice high
The most common surprises on a dumpster bill are overage and extra days. Heavy debris such as shingles, tile and masonry reaches a weight limit quickly, and a rental that includes a set number of days charges for more. Landfills also set their own rates, and the City's landfill page directs customers to contact each landfill for pricing. When you compare two quotes, line up the same size, the same included days and the same weight allowance before deciding which is cheaper.
It also helps to be exact about the project. A pro quoting “a remodel” has to guess; a pro quoting “a 1,800 square foot, single-layer re-roof, with decking” can price the weight. The more specific the form is, the closer the first quote lands to the final bill.
Questions to ask every pro
- What size, and what is the fill line?
- Is there a weight limit and what is the overage rate?
- How many days are included, and what does an extra day cost?
- Does the price include delivery, pickup, landfill fees and tax?
- What is prohibited, and what is the charge if something prohibited is found?
- Do you need a driveway protection board or a permit for my location?
The City of Abilene's published roll-off rates (for comparison)
The City of Abilene runs its own roll-off service, and its Solid Waste fee schedule publishes open-top, non-scheduled rates. They are the only Abilene roll-off prices we found published in full, so they are a useful reference point even though they are not what an independent pro will necessarily charge.
| Container | Per collection | Per yard (our arithmetic) |
|---|---|---|
| 20 yard | $315.00 | $15.75 |
| 30 yard | $388.50 | $12.95 |
| 40 yard | $462.00 | $11.55 |
From the City of Abilene Solid Waste fee schedule; sales tax is extra. The per-yard column is our division of the published rate by container size.
Two things stand out. Each step up in size adds the same $73.50 per collection, and the cost per yard falls as the container grows. The City also lists a short-term open-top line with a daily rental and a per-ton charge, but the schedule does not clearly label which amount is which, so we do not quote it. For short-term construction-debris pricing from the City, the contact is Solid Waste Services, (325) 676-6053.
How to read these numbers
Treat every figure on this page as a reference point and not a promise. Prices change, and a private pro prices on weight, distance and demand. Use the numbers to sense-check a quote, not to predict it. If a quote is far outside the ranges here, ask why; there may be a good reason such as a heavy load or a longer rental.
