Dumpster Rental in Potosi, TX
Debris roll-offs for Potosi, southeast of Abilene on FM 1750. A local independent pro follows up with size, price and rules.
Debris projects only. We refer construction, remodel, roofing and cleanout debris roll-offs, not recurring garbage service. Inside Abilene city limits the City handles regular trash, with short-term construction debris as its stated exception.
Debris roll-offs for Potosi projects
Potosi is on Farm Road 1750, about nine miles southeast of Abilene in eastern Taylor County, according to the Handbook of Texas. Unlike Merkel, Clyde or Tye, Potosi is not an incorporated city: the Texas Almanac data cited in that entry lists “Is Incorporated: No” and no post office. That one fact changes which agencies matter. There is no Potosi city hall issuing permits, so the rules that apply to your lot come from Taylor County, from the State of Texas and, if a subdivision has them, from deed restrictions we cannot see.

Taylor County permits that can touch a building project
The Taylor County Environmental Department says it administers floodplain development for “all development in unincorporated areas of Taylor County” and that floodplain development permits are required for houses, mobile homes, buildings and other structures. It also says all facilities in Taylor County require an on-site sewage facility permit, including repairs, alterations or additions to existing systems. For a Potosi homeowner that is the practical list: if your project is an addition, a new building or a septic repair, the permit is a county matter, and it often decides when the work and the dumpster delivery can start. The page does not list any rule about roll-off placement, dumpsters or illegal dumping, so we make no claim on those.
The Abilene trash rule stops at the city limit
Abilene says its Solid Waste Services is the only authorized trash collector “within the Abilene city limits” and that short-term construction debris is the exception (City of Abilene). Potosi is unincorporated and about nine miles out, so for a typical rural address that rule does not govern. Boundaries can reach farther than people think, so if your address is close to Abilene, confirm with the City before assuming. A pro will ask for your address either way.
A fast-growing community
The Handbook entry, citing Texas Almanac figures, shows Potosi at 1,441 people in 1990, 1,664 in 2000, 2,991 in 2010 and 3,947 in 2020, with a 2021 estimate of 4,720. That is a community that more than doubled between 2000 and 2020. Rapid growth usually brings new homes, additions, pools, outbuildings and fencing, which all produce construction scrap; that is our inference and not something the sources state. If you are building, ask your builder whether the dumpster is already in the contract before ordering your own.
Rural access and delivery
Many Potosi properties are on acreage reached by farm roads, so tell the pro whether the drive is gravel, how long the driveway is and whether a loaded truck can turn around. A heavy container on a soft shoulder or a wet driveway can sink; plywood or a hard pad helps. Burning construction debris on rural land is not a substitute, since shingles, treated lumber and demolition waste do not belong in a burn pile and county burn bans can apply. A roll-off is cleaner and keeps you clear of that question.
No city drop-off, so plan the whole load
Abilene’s Citizens Convenience Station requires a driver’s license and a current City of Abilene Municipal Services Statement, and the station page lists shingles, tile, brick, concrete and sheetrock as prohibited and says it takes about one pickup-bed load per visit. A Potosi address is outside those City programs, so a remodel or teardown is best handled by a container delivered to the property.
