Service Area: Abilene and Nearby
Serving Abilene and nearby: Tye, Potosi, Merkel, Clyde and the Dyess AFB area. Coverage depends on the independent pro who takes your request.
Debris projects only. We refer construction, remodel, roofing and cleanout debris roll-offs, not recurring garbage service. Inside Abilene city limits the City handles regular trash, with short-term construction debris as its stated exception.
Abilene
Inside Abilene city limits, the City says its Solid Waste Services Division is the only authorized trash collector, citing Texas Health and Safety Code Chapter 364 and Ordinance Section 27-11, with short-term construction debris as the stated exception (City of Abilene). The City offers its own roll-off containers, and we refer construction, remodel, roofing and cleanout debris projects only. If your address is near a boundary, the City can tell you whether it is inside city limits.

Tye, Potosi, Merkel, Clyde and Buffalo Gap
These communities are outside Abilene city limits, so the City of Abilene's trash rule does not govern them. Each has its own page above with what we could and could not confirm about local rules; local permit requirements and hauler availability can differ. Mention your town in the form and the pro who responds will confirm what applies. Distance matters to cost, since delivery and haul-off are part of the price, so a request from a smaller town may be quoted differently than one in the middle of Abilene.

Dyess AFB area
We take requests for projects in the area around Dyess Air Force Base. Access to the base itself is controlled, and we make no claim about work on base property.
Where debris goes from here
Disposal for the Abilene area is privately handled. The City's landfill page lists two landfills on FM 3034 north of Abilene, the Regional Landfill (operated by Republic Services) and Abilene Environmental Landfill, and says each sets its own pricing and hours. Residents also have City drop-off sites that take smaller or different material, namely the Citizens Convenience Station on Sandy Street for bulky items, the Brush Center for tree limbs and the Environmental Recycling Center on Oak Street for recyclables and household hazardous waste. All three are residents-only; the Convenience Station and Brush Center require a driver's license and City documentation, so they are not an option for out-of-town or commercial loads.
How the City limit line changes your project
The question that matters most when you request a dumpster is not the street name but which side of the city limit line you are on. Inside the line, the City describes a sole-collector rule and offers its own scheduled and on-call roll-off service in 20, 30 and 40 yard sizes, with open-top short-term containers for construction debris and demolition. That is a real alternative to anything we refer, and we would rather you know it than find out later. Outside the line, in places like Tye, Potosi, Merkel and Clyde, that rule does not apply, but the same practical questions do: what is going in the container, how heavy it is, and where it will sit.
Because the rule turns on location and on the kind of waste, a pro who calls you back will ask for your address, the project type and the material. Having those ready speeds up the quote. If the answer to “is this inside city limits” is unclear, call the City before you commit to a delivery date.
Timing around City schedules
If you use a City drop-off to handle part of the project, plan around its hours. The Convenience Station and Brush Center run Monday to Friday 8 am to 5 pm and Saturday 8 am to 3 pm and are closed Sunday; the Recycling Center runs Tuesday to Friday 8 am to 4 pm and Saturday 8 am to noon, closed Sunday and Monday. All exclude City-approved holidays. The City's Solid Waste page also notes that roll-off maintenance on holidays is by schedule only, so a holiday-week project is a good reason to request early.
